On a night of clear sky and good visibility, an entire neighborhood in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, State of Rio Grande do Sul, observed a UFO with a round shape, “three times the size of a star” as seen in the sky. According to the witnesses, the unidentified flying object was multicolored and flew with a slow speed and at a high altitude. The UFO was sighted in the western direction of the city, following a straight path parallel to the horizon.

MARCH 20th, 1996. Time: 19h35. Duration: 10 minutes. A person in Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul, observed a large round UFO with two dots on its top, moving 15 away from him. According to the witness, the unidentified flying object was gray, but sometimes red and green. The UFO was described as “slower than an aircraft”, and left a “tail of light” when moving in its straight path. The witness claimed to have taken photographs of the sighting, but these photos were not made available. The event was seen under good visibility and clear skies.

MARCH 20th, 1996. Time: 20h45. Duration: 15 minutes. On a night of clear and cloudless sky, in the backyard of their residence in Santa Cruz, State of Rio Grande do Sul, two people observed, with the naked eye and binoculars, two unidentified flying objects positioned “in the East of their residence”. The two objects were round, and “the same size as an airplane”, with blue, red and gold colors. The UFOs were flying close to each other with the altitude “of an airplane at normal flight level”. Still according to the witnesses, it was as if the UFOs were aircrafts, but regarding the speed, they were “fast; but slower than a shooting star, and faster than an ordinary plane”. The unknown objects remained “most of the time stopped, but had vertical and horizontal trajectories for a short time”. There were no reports of condensation trails or photographs taken of the sighting.

MARCH 19th, 1996. Time: 21h30. Duration: 90 seconds. On a clear night, a man observed, with the naked eye, an unidentified flying object over the city of Itaqui, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. According to the witness, the UFO was round like a “ball”, but , before disappearing it became oval in shape. The object, seen at a distance of 1km, was almost “the color of fire” and it was flying “much faster than an airplane” at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters. The UFO was seen moving from East to South.

MARCH 5th, 1996. Time: 21h00 pm. “Everyday, during 2 hours”, in Tuparendi, State of Rio Grande do Sul, a woman says she observes a round multicolor UFO. According to the witness, the unidentified flying object, observed “from a distance, would be the size of a football”, changing colors, “from lilac to yellow and red”. The unknown object performs a vertical trajectory, “appearing high and descending slowly”. The sighting informed in this report was seen together with six more people, with the naked eye and it was also filmed, but the video was not made available.

MARCH 18th, 1996. Time: 17h50. Duration: 2 minutes. In the north of the Guaíba River, in Porto Alegre area, State of Rio Grande do Sul, on a cloudless afternoon, a person observed round and yellow UFO, with the size “close to the size we see the Moon”. According to the witness, the unidentified flying object remained “stopped” most of the time, but then it moved in the North-South direction, at an altitude estimated by the witness as “very high”. The stationary UFO was filmed by the observer, but the file with the video was not made available in this file case.

MARCH 19th, 1996. Time: 20h30. Duration: not determined. In the city of Marau, state of Rio Grande do Sul, several people spotted an unidentified flying object in the western sector of the city. According to the witness who reported the case to COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command], the UFO looked like a “two-pointed star with a tail”. The sighting was observed with the naked eye by several people, with no reports of photographs taken or footage made of the sighting.

In the Ideal neighborhood, in Novo Hamburgo, State of Rio Grande do Sul, on a cloudy sky night with no visible stars, several people observed with the naked eye a stationary UFO “larger than an airplane” and an “almost oval shape with lights on its side”. The unidentified flying object was “shiny white” and its altitude could not be estimated by the witnesses. There were no reports of observed condensation trails or photographs taken of the sighting.

MARCH 20th, 1996. Time: 15h45. Duration: more than one hour. An entire family in Pelotas, State of Rio Grande do Sul, observed from his house, about 20 km away in the western position of the city, a white UFO, “round with indentations” and the size “larger than a star”. According to the witness who reported the sighting, The unknown object flew at a slow speed at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters and made a “diagonal to the horizon” trajectory. It was reported that the sighting was filmed by one of the witnesses, but the film was not made available in this file. The entire event was accompanied by the naked eye and clear skies. In the report by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command], it is also stated that: “Note: the object changed color, to red, and disappeared at 20:30”.

MARCH 21st, 1996. Time: 19h51. Duration: 30 minutes. In the Plano Piloto region, in Brasília, Distrito Federal, two people followed the trajectory of an unidentified flying object in the form of “a star – but brighter” and  with a size “larger than a star”. According to the witness who reported the sighting, the UFO was at the “airplanes” altitude, but “stationary” amidst few clouds in a clear sky. It was also reported that the UFO moved “from the Pilot Plan to Guará” in the Distrito Federal.
