A pilot and co-pilot reported that they were followed by a UFO [1986]

August 28, 1986. Time: 20:40. Duration: 40 minutes. Two pilots from two different planes flying between the region of Franca [State of São Paulo] and Triângulo Mineiro [State of Minas Gerais], reported sightings of an unidentified flying object. According to the Brasília-DF Approach Control report, TAM’s TF-585 flight, at around 9:00 pm, “was seeing unidentified flying objects near its aircraft when it was flying over Uberaba, in the state of Minas Gerais. A pilot from another aircraft, PP-EFC, spotted around 8:00 pm the “light” in the same position.

The TF-585 pilot reported that he noticed “an object in the aircraft’s 3-hour position; before Araguari”, State of Minas Gerais. The UFO was “similar to a landing gear headlight”, white in color and flying at an estimated speed of 400 km/h, following the TF-585. The UFO followed the pilot’s aircraft while “quickly varying in level and the light flashed when the Bandeirante [TF-585] flashed the lights.” The pilot reported that, with him, the sighting was also made by the co-pilot and 11 other people on the aircraft.

The TF-585 co-pilot reported that the UFO had an oval shape, was the size of a Bandeirante model airplane [like the TF-585] and that it was about 5km away from his aircraft and that the same unknown object “maintained the 3-hour position for 40 minutes – heading 195° and moved away in São Joaquim da Barra [State of São Paulo]”. Like the pilot, his TF-585 colleague also reported that “when the Bandeirante turned the lights on and off, the object did the same”, that is, it copied various actions of the TAM aircraft.

A pilot reported two UFO sightings when flying over Montes Claros-MG [1986]

August 30th, 1986. Time: 5:10 am. Duration: 5 minutes. A pilot of flight VASP 285 reported having seen 2 UFO sightings while flying over the Montes Claros region, in the state of Minas Gerais. According to the pilot, the unidentified flying objects were similar to stars, and one appeared before the other on the horizon, in the “2-hour” position in relation to the observer. One UFO appeared to move “twice as fast” as the other. The objects did not fly in formation and followed a trajectory towards 160° and 180° respectively”. In the first sighting the pilot claims that only he saw it, but in the second he was with three more members of the crew.

An oval red and green UFO was spotted in Bandeirante-PR [1986]

20 people in Montes Claros-MG observed 8 star-like UFOs during 90 minutes [1986]

The UFOs were silver in color and flew slowly in formation of “Cruzeiro do Sul” [Southern Star], and then, leaving the formation and making random movements. The sighting was done in good visibility conditions. Complementary Data: “At 12:20Z, Montes Claros [MG] called us via TF2 / 348 {CV R.} informing about “unidentified flying objects in their vicinity, approximately 07 or 08 objects. Three air traffic controllers reported a very low star-like UFO at São José dos Campos-SP [1986]

MAY 29th, 1986. Time: 21:10. Duration: 20 minutes. Three military on duty from the Control Tower at São José dos Campos Airport, State of São Paulo, reported the sighting of an unidentified flying object with a star shape that initially was “confused with a satellite moving in the sky but was very low”. According to the witness’s report, the UFO was on Radial 010 of the VOR SJC, had a “flashing white” color and flew at a speed of 80 to 100 kt. Also according to the witness, the UFO “crossed the axis of the runway and moved on bow 260, reaching about 15 NM from the observers. Additional data: “II – Ten D. also informed that the operator of TWR Santos-SP reported that he had seen such objects at the same time, but as TWR-Santos was already closed, it was not possible to question the operator. III – I also inform you that I called the APP-SP, to confirm if the operator had detected something on the radar, however the service team had already been surrendered, and according to the hour operator there was nothing recorded in the incident book of the APP.”/ JCM – 1TEN ESP CTA.

Pilots and controllers reported supersonic UFOs near Bragança Paulista-SP [1986]

MAY 27th, 1986. Time: 23:36. Duration: not determined. An aircraft pilot flying from São Paulo-SP to Varginha-MG, the TF 402, having taken off at 22:07, reported having seen a “bright light, in its 9-hour position” about 33NM from the city of Bragança Paulista-SP. At that same time, according to a report, the “ACC-BS [Brasília-DF] was capturing a primary “plot” with a speed of 813 kt [1,540 km / h] and a course of 208 degrees in that position”. Another aircraft, the flight “VARIG RG256A [SBGR / SBCF – São Paulo-Guarulhos Airport to Belo Horizonte-Confins Airport – FL330, DEP 23:18]” reported sightings in the same region, even asking for permission to divert of the route to avoid collision with the UFO. At 00:20 TWR-BH (Sct MA) reported me that he saw green, red and white lights, approximately over Carlos Prates city (near Belo Horizonte-MG]. […] At 00:03, FAB 2177 (laboratory aircraft) took off from SBBH [Aeroporto da Pampulha-BH-MG] and, when questioned by APP-BH, reported seeing 2 balloons. In Brasília-DF, “several plots were observed” in the radar [1986]

A family in Brasília-DF sighted star-like UFOs moving erratically [1986]

May 26th, 1986. Time: 2:30pm. Duration: 3 minutes. In Brasília, four people from the same family reported the sighting of “4 or 5 unidentified flying objects”, in the form of “blinking stars”. According to the witnesses, the UFOs had “faint, undefined colors, silver and white, changing color. The unknown objects flew at slow speed and in “disorderly formation”, moving “to the right from the point of view of observation” , in a position of about “60° to 80° in relation to the horizon”. The sighting was carried out with binoculars in good weather and visibility. Observation of the report: “video recording was not necessary because nothing unusual was observed in the radar covers”.

UFO sightings in 4 different states on the same night [May 23, 1986]

First case: May 23, 1986. Time: 20:10. Duration: 20 minutes.

Two people in Brasília, Distrito Federal, observed an unidentified flying object in a round shape, “luminous, brighter than the stars, changing color” that remained stationary while it was observed. According to the witnesses, the UFO was towards the west, and emitted, predominantly, sparkling orange and blue colors. The reporting witness was unable to estimate the altitude or distance from the UFO. According to information in the report, “nothing was observed on the radars, dispensing the recording.” The sighting was done with the naked eye and in good conditions of visibility for the observation of the sky, which was clear that night.

Second case: May 23, 1986. Time: 21:40.

Report: “Phone call (DDD) received at 00:40Z on May 24, 1986 from Ten Cel Dias (COMAT) informing that his subordinates (a sgt. and a corporal), on duty, would be seeing UFOs over Corcovado and Niterói (RJ). Bright colors and standing out in the starry sky, We informed Lt. Col. DIAS the content of the questionnaire used by CINDACTA I and left it up to him to determine the validity of its application in this case. “

Third case: May 23, 1986 – 21:50

Report: “3S Barros (ACC-BS) received a TF3 call at the Operational Team Chief’s desk at 00:50Z on May 24, 1986. The person identified himself as belonging to BAST (probably the Day Officer and / or BAST Operations) informing that it was receiving numerous calls from people residing in Santos and reporting cases of UFO sighting. Nothing abnormal was observed in the Radar coverage “.

Fourth case: May 23, 1986 – 22:15.

Duration: 10 minutes. Two military men on duty in the city of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, observed an unidentified flying object that looked like a “luminous point, colored green, red, blinking alternately. According to witnesses, the UFO remained stationary in sector QDR 240 of Ribeirão Preto. The sighting occurred in clear sky and was performed with the naked eye and also with binoculars. Observations: “Contact received via [telephone] by 2S Itice in the period of 02: 27/02: 38 of May 24, 1986 reporting UFO sighting in SBRP . Using the questionnaire provided for in IS / 018 / CCTA.

More cases on the same day:

Observations: 1) Upon sighting the object, he contacted the ACC-BS [Brasília-DF] and TWR-YS [Pirassununga-SP] to find out if there was any traffic in the sector or if there was radar detection. The response from both bodies was negative. 2) At about 10 pm, 3S Gelson received a call from Ms. Eda who said she was observing a “foreign object” in the company of a few more people. 3) Nothing was observed on the radars without the need for video recording”.

OTHER CASES:

Service controllers on May 23, 1986, 2nd shift, received several calls from people who reported UFO sightings. This information was lost due to the lack of doctrine of the Operational Team in dealing with this matter.
