SEPT 2nd, 1996. Time: 19h15. A group of seven people on the Campus of the University of São Paulo – UNESP, in Araçatuba, São Paulo, observed two unidentified flying objects with oval shapes, moving at a “slow, subtle” speed. According to the witnesses, the UFOs followed a “straight path; over the city; one made [a] ninety degree turn to the Northeast”. The UFOs were sighted at an altitude of approximately 500m, and at about 10km [horizontal] distance from the observers. Although distant, the witnesses saw them as “the size of a soccer ball”. The objects were two amber colored spheres, with a sparkling blue halo and a concentrated red center, similar to the ember”.

The report by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command] also stated that: “during the approach and overflight of the city only one object [was seen]; afterwards, in the Northeast sector, two objects were observed, with a distance between them of 4km. The report was provided in a communication made while the sighting was still happening”.

The sighting was recorded by one of the witnesses  with a video camera and film camera. In addition, binoculars and telescopes were used too. The sky was clear, with good visibility.

The witness who reported the sighting to COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command] is a ufologist and, and he will appear in the case file ARX.0.0.474, reporting a series of sightings in the region of Araçatuba and the surrounding area by his ufology group.

AUG 27th, 1996. Time: 10:30 pm. Duration: not determined. In Aracaju, State of Sergipe, a military observed with the naked eye from the balcony of his house “a ball of fire crossing the sky”. According to the witness’s report, the unidentified flying object was round in shape, incandescent, traveling at a “very fast” speed and made a sound only after it passed, “as if it were exploding in the fall”. From the observer’s perspective, the UFO made a “straight path towards the ground”. The report by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command] also informs that: “Another observer who was at a party, in another neighborhood, noticed the object, but with one more detail: when it was close to disappearing on the horizon, it was divided in two and exploded “.

AUG 9th, 1996. 17:15. Duration: 40 minutes. From the window of a house in Planaltina, Distrito Federal, three people observed an unidentified flying object with a triangular shape, the size of “a single-engine plane” with red sides and white interior. According to the report, the UFO flew at slow speed and low altitude. The object came closer to where the observers were until it was “very close” making a vertical descent. The sighting occurred in “good weather” and in conditions of visibility favorable to observation, and the UFO was sighted with the naked eye.

AUG 23rd, 1996. Time: 03:00pm. Duration: 20 minutes. In the city of Carpina, State of Pernambuco, three people saw “through the bedroom window a very strong light moving in the sky”. According to the report, the UFO sighted was “just a light, with no definition of shape” and its size resembled that of “an aircraft headlight seen. Its color was clear, “as if it were a car headlight” and its speed was high when moving around, but it varied.

The unidentified flying object was seen performing “several evolutions, managing to stand still in the air, alternating fast and slow trajectories.” According to the witnesses, the “last trajectory seen by the UFO, [was] towards the coast of PE.” The weather was cloudy, yet the witnesses said they observed the UFO “as if it were an aircraft landing at the airport, seen from the TWR [Control Tower] or the lobby [of an airport].” As for the altitude, at the beginning the UFO was “low almost on the ground, after [that] it went up”.

On October 15, 1996, between 11:40 pm and 00:40am of the following day, there were simultaneous sightings in 3 Brazilian states, with witnesses describing similar characteristics of the objects observed in that section of the air space in Northeastern Brazil. All reports came from military personnel who spotted the unknown objects when they were on duty in their military organizations, and were witnessed at very close times. The duration of the sightings ranged from 10 seconds to 6 minutes depending on the region from which they were observed.

In the cities of Maceió and Recife, there were sightings of large fireballs [from four to eight]. They were described as having yellow and blue colors. In all descriptions, there was a report of a “tail” trail, and in one of the cities the objects were reported as flying in formation from West to East. All were unanimous about the “very fast” speed of the objects. There were calls from other nearby states [Itabuna and Ilhés, in Bahia; and in Recife, Pernambuco] “which described the episode in the same detail”, says the report by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command].

*ARX ​​648 – due to the wear of the copy of the file, the information about the State where the event occurred was unreadable – the witness who reported the sighting informed he lived in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. This infomation let us deduce in which one of the Vera Cruz cities in Brazil [there are 5 in Brazil] the sighting took place.

DEC 19th, 2004. 1:00 am. Duration: 2 minutes. In the city of Vera Cruz, *State of Rio Grande do Sul*, on a clear night, three people observed 3 unidentified flying objects shaped like triangles and white in color. According to the witnesses of the sighting, the UFOs were flying at “very fast” speed and were following a straight path in a North / South direction. According to the report by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command] the witnesses also stated that: “The objects formed a triangle with equal sides and moved together. The individual reports that the lights stopped and moved together.”

NOV 30th, 1996. Time: 9:20 pm. Duration: 1 minute. “Around 9:20 pm, on the patio of his residence” in Pelotas, State of Rio Grande do Sul, two people watched with the naked eye, in a clear sky, two unidentified flying objects, 2m from each other, following a rectilinear trajectory in the West-East direction. The two UFOs “had no definite shape – [they were] a beam of light” the size of a very bright and small star. Their colors varied: one was yellow, the other blue and white, and their “speed: faster than a normal aircraft”. There were no reports of condensation trails, video recording or photographs taken of the sighting.

DEC 7th, 1996. Time: 8:20 pm. Duration: 20 minutes. In Ceilândia Norte, Distrito Federal, about 20 people observed “lights changing from diamond to circle” in the skies of their neighborhood. The sighting of the several UFOs was done with the naked eye and a sky with several clouds. The shape-shifting UFOs, according to the witnesses, were approximately 5 meters long. They were white and flew at a speed of approximately 180km/h. The witnesses further claimed that the unknown objects were at an altitude of approximately 10,000 meters and were in a northern direction in relation to the observers of the event.

DEC 7th, 1996. Time: 8:25 pm. Duration: 30 minutes. Eight people in the Ceilândia region, Distrito Federal-DF, observed with the naked eye, several unidentified flying objects. They were “white, round, and formed by small lights”, following in a circular trajectory. According to the witnesses, the UFOS were about 3 meters in diameter, and “were in the North”, 15km apart and at an altitude also estimated at approximately 15km. Observations in the COMDABRA’s report [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command] show that the witness communicated the sighting while it was happening: “It happens at this moment, coming out of clouds, lights varying in size forming a circle”.

DEC 28th, 1996. Time: 18h05. Duration: 10 minutes. In the Sobradinho region, Distrito Federal, a person, with the naked eye and under a cloudy sky, “in the backyard of his house, observed a strong light moving vertically”. The unidentified flying object, according to the witness, was about 15 km away from the observer, but at an altitude he was unable to estimate. The UFO was round in shape and white in color, but its size was “smaller than that of an airplane” and it had a vertical trajectory when it was sighted. There was no record of condensation trails, nor was there any video recording or photographs taken.
