“Report. Day 19 to May 20, 1986.
Time: start 23: 15Z – End: 03: 40Z
At 11:15 pm, OI BR, 3S Daniel received a TF1 call (sector F8) from the ACC-BS [Brasilia-DF Approach Control] informing that the TWR-SJ operator [São José dos Campos Control Tower- SP], was seeing lights (luminous points) near the Aerodrome. We contacted TWR-SJ (TF2 9-276 – CONS – A) and it was confirmed to us by the operator, so we made the predicted questionnaire, which is attached. We contacted APP-São Paulo and the operator informed us that there were some plots with radar support near SJ. When asked about the TWR-SJ operator, we could sometimes observe plots in the NE sector of the Aerodrome, which was verified by the TWR-SJ operator. At 00: 01Z, we contacted the LP.23 radar from São Roque [in São Paulo-SP], but this was not plotting anything (TF3 – 9/305 – OI-BR). At 01: 28Z, TEN Hugo tried to activate Sergeant […] through APP-SP, in order to take advantage of it in a possible interception from APP-SP, but it was not possible. At 01: 40Z, receiving a DDD call from the PT-MBZ pilot commander who was attended by TEN Hugo. At 02: 11Z, Maj Cerqueira made a DDD call from RJ to Major Aymone. “

TWR-SJ operator report:
Sergeant BCT Sérgio Mota, operator of TWR-SJ reported that at 21:30Z [18:30hs] he noticed a spotlight on the city in the Northwest sector of the Aerodrome and two spots close to the external marker. These foci had no defined shape or dimensions, they appeared to be the size of the “head of a matchstick”. The dominant colors were red and orange, but changed to green and yellow. The observation was made with the naked eye and with binoculars. The sky was clear, N / NE there was a layer of fog, low and 2/8 of cirrus.

1) Several plots have been observed around Anápolis>
> Radial: 190 / 6NM; 290 / 12NM; 045 / 16NM; 095 / 18NM> estimated radials provided by TABA with whom TF1 was in contact throughout the mission.
2) Apparently it was just one. Radial 270/300 between Goiânia and Anápolis.
3) No, as only contact and ‘judite’ were achieved. Negative the look.
4) It can be said that he had great speed. When the hunter approached accelerating, the objective also accelerated, resulting in the loss of judite. This occurred in five judits given by the hunter.
16) Of the five judits given by the hunter, the minimum approach was 2 NM;
19) some cumulus at level 120, below that level the weather conditions were good
20) Captain Viriato GDA, 30 years old, Higher Education, Pilot.

E1 THE FIRST EYE CONTACT IF GAVE AFTER The THOR [having commanded] STERN 180 OBJECT IF FOUND IN 1 TO POSITION 2H0RAS DOWN AT THIS TIME IN ORDER BOBCAT APROEI GOAL AND [began an] APPROACH ATTEMPT IN STERN 240 IN PARTICULAR MOMENT WITH UNTIL THEN MY SEARCH ONLY HAS BEEN VISUAL I TURNED ON MY ONBOARD RADAR AND GOT A SCAN BACK AND BACK A CONTACT AT 12PM (WHICH WOULD CONFERENCE WITH THE VISUAL) IN A DISTANCE AT THE MOMENT I CAN’T NEED BUT WHICH IS FOUND RECORDED THROUGH THE ONLY THAT WAS ONLY IT WAS AWAY AND WHEN THEY ORDERED TO CALL RADAR TO SEARCH IT WAS ALREADY OUT OF THE 20NM RANGE FROM THE FIRST VISUAL CONTACT IN FL332 THE OBJECT WAS PASSED FROM A SITUATION ONE TO TWO HOURS DOWN TO 12HIGHS AT THE MOMENT WHEN BACK I HAVE LEFT TO FIX THE VISION FOR SOME INSTANT TO AVOID ANY TYPE OF ILLUSION OF NIGHT VISION I CAN OBSERVE 3 DIFFERENT COLORS (RED GREEN AND WHITE) AND THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME I SAW IT.
WITH REGARD TO ONBOARD INSTRUMENTS THE ONLY ONE THAT [HAD] GIVEN SOME CHANGE WAS HSI BECAUSE IT WAS SELECTING ADF (WITH THIS SELECTION THE DME CONTINUED INDICATING NORMALLY) AT A PARTICULAR TIME WHEN IT’S ALREADY IN THE ROAD 240 A + – 200NW IN THE WATERWAY. DMC SHOULD HAVE BEEN WITH THE RED FLAG I GOT POINT POINT ON THE STROKE VARIANTING 10 TO 20GR TO THE RIGHT AND INDICATING DME EQUAL TO 35 / 36NM AND ON THE BACK WHEN ALREADY ON STROKE 070 THE SAME WINDOW WITH THE RED FLAG IN VIEW
K1 PROA240 SW ARRIVED UP TO 10 TO 12 NM 01 01 NO K2 SEPARATION
K3 THE ITEM THAT MOST MARKED THE MISSION WAS AFTER ROUTE 180 THE VISUAL CONTACT COINCIDIED WITH THOR’S INDICATION. WHEN AT 12-HOURS AND A LITTLE CLOSE THE ONBOARD RADAR RECEIVED A PLOT IN THE SAME SITUATION 12 10 TO 12NM. AND FROM A LOW 1-TO 2-HOUR SITUATION, PASSED TO 2-HOUR 10°GR HIGH DISTANCING. DME INDICATION WHEN 20NM FROM MALOCA [position] IS INDICATING 35/360 ME WITH THE ADF POINTER BEING INDICATING THE RANGE VARYING 10 TO 20GR TO THE RIGHT.

AND NOTE, STRONG RED LIGHT THAT COINCIDED WITH ANTENNA INFORMATION GIVEN BY THOR. IT WAS COMMANDED TO APPROACH THE OBJECT, AND PERFORM APPROACH. IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE OBJECT DID NOT APPROACH AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF OBSERVATION IT WILL DISAPPEAR. THEIR LOCATION WAS APPROXIMATELY SOUTH OF SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS.
