“THE LEGNAIOLI CASE – INVESTIGATION”
“The event took place on JULY 3rd, 1978, at 17:45 pm, at Rua Padre Bernardino Bandeira, Penha neighborhood – São Paulo-SP. Next to the LEGNAIOLI family residence, there is a property with approximately 12 X 40 meters, in this land there is a small building and some small trees. On that date, Mr. Odirlei Legnaioli and his son DALTON were in the kitchen of that house; at that time the boy left the kitchen to look at something outside and his dog followed him. The house is above the street level, as well as the land mentioned above.
When DALTON approached the street, he saw a metallic part that showed itself from a point in the space of the neighboring terrain. He immediately thought it was a helicopter, but when he put himself in a better position he claimed to have seen a device with the following description:
Format
Two overlapping plates facing each other with two elevations, one at the top and one at the bottom and located in the center of it. It appeared to have a metallic surface, without portholes, visible hatches and joints. At the top there was a “hook” device. At the bottom and below, an elevation were three apparently transparent spheres revolved around themselves and emitted yellow, red and blue lights.
The device was about 10 meters in diameter, and appeared to be static and suspended in the air about 02 meters from the ground. At the bottom there was a movement in the spheres that seemed to rotate and with lights already mentioned and did not emit noise.
The boy froze and his dog started to bark, according to DALTON. From the upper part of the object, where there was the device in the form of a “hook”, a thin beam of light came out and hit the animal. This light took over the animal’s body and enveloped it and immediately the animal stopped barking and started to move away from the place.
DALTON states that the outline of the animal’s body was “engraved” in the light. Then in the bottom, where the spheres were, there was a flash that emitted a lilac color followed by other nuances. He felt a “breath of hot air” and said that his shirt and hair were with static. At that moment, according to DALTON, he heard a vehicle stop suddenly in the street below his house. After that supposed UFO “vehicle” took off, and then left.
He was still enveloped by the light that then ceased. His impulse at that moment was to flee. Mr Odirlei Legnaioli – who was inside the residence, noticed that the animal entered the kitchen and looked frightened. Then he also heard a brake then enter the DALTON who looked in shock. Mr. Odirlei thought that DALTON had suffered a fall, but due to the boy’s condition and according to his gestures (he couldn’t speak) he ran down the hall to the outside.
He stated that he could see the object moving in the sky (he was not able to specify the distance and height) that emitted an orange light. He also said that the street lamps had suffered interference and that they were reddish.
Mr Odilei was surprised that at that moment the street, which normally has a good number of people passing by, was deserted. After hearing the report from his son, he made an inspection on the neighboring ground having informed that there was no trace of any “landing”.
Data obtained in the interview:
– Mr Odilei, were you on the terrain afterwards and the next day? Are there marks, signs of burnt vegetation, or anything else that – it seemed abnormal?
– I was, after what happened with a beacon – and even the next day doing an investigation on the spot. I didn’t find any sign of marks, burnt grass tip, even in the bushes, there was nothing.
– Did you notice anything different with DILTON’s behavior? Did you take him to have a medical exam?
– Of course the boy was scared, traumatized. I examined his body, but there were no stains and no other physical signs.
– You said that when he went out to check what was happening, he saw an orange light that was moving away in the sky and that the street lights were red. During the time that the suit was with DALTON, were you inside the house? Were the lights and TV working? Was there any interference with them?
– Yes, the TV was on and the lights too. The object was less than two meters from the wall and nothing happened inside, neither with the lights nor with the television.
– Besides you, were there any more witnesses?
– As I said, the street was deserted, which is strange, because here there is always movement of people or vehicles. I don’t know if there is anyone else. Regarding the braking sound we heard; the person must have entered Rua Jiqueira Silva for Bernardino Bandeira and came across the object, and with the fright he must have stopped the car that way.
Mr. Odilei Legnaioli is a Sergeant at PMESP, and at first glance he seemed very aware of the problem. The boy DALTON despite his 11 years of age is a smart boy and easy to communicate.
The interview took place on 09/16/78 starting at 19:00 pm and lasted until dawn on 09/17.78.”
