Three sightings*
On July 10th and 16th, 1997, at the Brazilian Air Force Base CPBV [Campo de Provas Brigadeiro Velloso] in Serra do Cachimbo, State of Pará, three sightings of unidentified flying objects were reported. Two sightings on the 10th of July, and one six days later. Both events were communicated via internal military correspondence detailing the facts by the reporting observers. Following are the two correspondences reported to their superiors by the military in charge at the time of the events:

“Cachimbo-PA, July 15, 1997.
Around 9:30 pm on 07/10/97, Thursday, it was observed by the military on duty at this Post 3S […] (8INFA 6), CB […] (1st GCC), S2 [. ..] (BINFA 6) and S2 […] (BINFA 6), a silent object with red and blue rotating lights, at a distance of approximately 800m; when the CB […] directed the flashlight towards the object it descended, and at the height of the treetops there was only a red light swinging until it disappeared between the trees.
It reappeared for the second time at 11:40 pm on the same night at a distance of approximately 500m, in front of the Post very clearly, crossing BR-163 and then next to this Post and BR-163 in the direction of Post I to the Campo de Provas [CPBV], several radio calls were made to inform GEICAMP of what had happened and they were unable to contact them. At the time of the last apparition, a truck was being identified, and the 03 (three) occupants who also saw the moving light, and it was asked for them to warn the CPBV, considering that the radio did not work in the time.

On the 17th of July this year, this Officer was informed that two military personnel on duty at Posto P1, S2 and […] S2, […] again observed an UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT (UFO)
This occurred at around 4:15am on the 16th of July this year. The UFO appeared at a distance of approximately 200 meters, diagonally with the house (Posto P 1), appearing in the west and disappearing in the northwest. Its movement formed an “L” and its features were:
Format: Oval;
Color: [rotating] Blue and red; it emitted a strong yellow light directed at the Post.
There was no trails in the terrain or vegetation around Posto P1.
