SEPT 15th, 1989. Time: 20:25. Duration: 17 minutes. A TAM pilot and 11 other people observed an unidentified flying object, in the form of a yellow light that increased and decreased in size. According to the reporting pilot, “at 20 NM [nautical miles] from the aircraft”, the UFO had an “estimated size of 40cm” as if it were a “large wall clock”. The UFO was traveling at a “very high speed; unable to estimate; evolving vertically following the aircraft” from FL 080 [8,000 feet] in the South position. Still according to the pilot’s report, the unknown object was positioned “from 1-hour to 4-hour “in relation to your aircraft.
Supplementary notes in the report made by COMDABRA [Brazilian Aerospace Defense Command]: “Beginning of observation, around 23: 25Z, approximately RDL 330 ° / 15NM ARX [Aeroporto de Aracati-CE]; ending, around 23:42, RDL 260 / 20NM “ARX”. The pilot is also a parachutist and estimated a rate of descent of the object around 20 times more than the fall of a “PQD” in free fall. The observation section was more or less from the Irino position to Uberaba.” The pilot also said that this is the “fourth time in two years” that he observes UFOs.
